教學綱要
課程概述Course Description
Technical and Scientific English Writing familiarizes students with academic writing and with respect to study-related genres: curriculum vitae, and autobiography. Students will be provided with opportunities to cultivate their writing capabilities; to this end, students will be engaged in authentic case analyses and hands-on writing tasks via collaborative learning.
教學目標Course Objectives
This course aims at providing higher-intermediate or advanced EFL students with the essential skills in academic/scientific written communications and productions. Specific strategies for composing and revising texts will be introduced to guide students in writing for different academic purposes and audiences. Along with lectures and class discussion, a variety of individual and collaborative tasks will be incorporated in class to better prepare the students with hands-on practices and greater metacognitive awareness of writing processes. More specific objectives include: 1. To develop confidence, skills, and strategies for writing a scholarly/scientific paper in English. 2. To increase students’ awareness of academic expectation and performance requirements of writing styles and formats. 3. To develop writing skills for logical development and clarity of thought, including improving grammatical and mechanical control, practicing constructive peer editing and self-correction techniques.
