本課程乃是結合系上(各領域)的老師與學生共同規劃，使學生透過社區服務活動，認識服務學習理念，體驗服務的意義，深化學習的領域、擴大自己的生活範疇與生命歷練。本課程目標期望學生能夠：（一）了解多元社會與尊重不同文化、 （二）培養自我反省的能力、 （三）學習溝通技巧、合作與信任關係，以建立解決問題之能力、 （四）建立自我價值感與自信、 （五）建立公民責任感、 （六）建立服務利他的價值觀。藉此亦能達到提昇教師教學多元化的目標。更希望能對該社區或組織之服務達到長遠之效益。
Service-learning combines service with academic learning in intentional ways to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Objectives of this course is to :
‧ Promote learning through active participation in service experiences
‧ Offer an opportunity for students to learn and use skills and knowledge, and to test new roles in an environment that encourages risk taking and rewards competence.
‧ Provide structured time for students to reflect by thinking, discussing and/or writing about their service experience
‧ Involve youth in the planning, and makes a meaningful contribution to the community（real-life situations）
‧ Foster a sense of caring for others
