本課程旨在講授免疫系統在腫瘤發生與惡化的各階段中所扮演的角色，包括:
1) 抗腫瘤細胞之免疫反應。
2) 腫瘤細胞逃避免疫監測之作用機轉。
3) 慢性發炎反應在腫瘤發展過程中所扮演的角色。
4) 腫瘤免疫學研究於癌症治療、監測以及抗腫瘤疫苗發展之應用
此外本課程也將介紹目前癌症免疫療法研發之趨勢，希望透過本課程的介紹讓學生對免疫系統在腫瘤發生與惡化的各階段中扮演的角色有所了解，以做為未來從事癌症研究之基礎。
Cells and molecules of the immune system are a fundamental component of the tumour microenvironment. The objective of this class is to introduce the roles of immune system in tumour progression (tumour initiation, tumour malignancy and responses to therapy):
1) Immune surveillance to tumour cells
2) The mechanism for cancer cells to escape immune system.
3) Chronic inflammation for tumour progression.
4) Strategies that modulate the immune system to specifically target tumour cells.
