Course Objectives
Epigenetics refers to heritable changes in gene expression that occur without alteration in DNA sequence. There are two primary and interconnected epigenetic mechanisms - DNA methylation and covalent modification of histones. The dysregulation of oncogene or tumor supressor gene at epigenetical level is crucial for tumorigenesis. This lecture will describe the epigenetic regulations of gene expression and introduce major cellular signaling pathways involved in cancer epigenetics.
