三國，無疑是華人世界最耳熟能詳的歷史時段。胡適說：「《三國演義》究竟是一部絕好的通俗歷史，在幾千年的通俗教育史上，從沒有一部書比得上它的魔力。」然而，七實三虛的歷史小說，卻也讓世人對三國歷史人物、事件的認識，徘徊在歷史真實與藝術虛構間。希望藉由本課程釐清史學與文學的交融與分野。
The era of the Three Kingdoms is unquestionably the most familiar period in the Chinese world. Dr. Hu Shih once said “ The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is after all an excellent popular history. No other books have ever been so fascinating in thousands of years’ popular education.” Nevertheless, the nature of the historical novel invariably make the readers’ understanding of personages and events in the Three Kingdoms linger between historical facts and creative fiction. This course hopefully clarifies the fusion and distinction between history and literature.
