藥用植物學(Pharmaceutical Botany)是研究中草藥及傳統藥物的基礎。卻辯別植物，首先應研究植物分類學(Taxonomy)，尤其應對植物外部形態學(Plant Macromorphology)宜有充分之認識，並須具有名制、分類、採集、標本製作、鑑定等之基本常識，進而教導學生了解其藥用部位、有效成分、使用與應用，教學內容含載於固有典籍、中華藥典或臺灣中藥典之中藥材的藥用植物，同時涵蓋其沿革、構造及鑑別相關知識。。本課程將以深入淺出的方式，配合實務（學校藥園及野外探集）與教學，引導學生對藥用植物學能有完整的認識，並將所學應用於日常生活及服務學習中，從而有助於學術生涯之規劃。
