本課程首先教導學生認識人體正常器官的構造與功能表現(結合解剖學、組織學、胚胎學、生理學),讓醫學生熟悉人體在健康時的情況。接著配合微生物學、病毒學、寄生蟲學,教導學生了解引起人類疾病的各種生物性致病原、傳播途徑及人體如何產生自身免疫系統來防禦及對抗外來致病原(免疫學)。同時也讓同學瞭解比較健康與病態時的情況,並將這些專業知識與臨床所見的疾病串聯起來,以應用於將來診斷、處理疾病與預防之用。除了正規的授課方式外,我們另加入有PBL與Case study的課程,讓同學能透過臨床病例的討論、問題的導引,誘導學生主動學習。預期本課程應可達成本校醫學生畢業所應具備的六大核心能力之專業知識(medical knowledge)、實作導向之學習與改進(practice-based learning and improvement)和人際關係及溝通技巧(interpersonal skills and communication)等能力,及達成AAMC與HHMI所提倡的醫學生所需具備的八大基礎科學能力。
In order to equip students with the ability of medical knowledge,practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal skills and communication, as well as the basic science knowledge admitted by AAMC and HHMI, the course is designed as a intergrative program. Students will be learning the basic medical subjects of anatomy, physiology, histology and embriology, followed by micorbiology, virology, parasitology and immunology. Pathology and pharmacology will be also integrated, together with the previous basic medical subjects and clinical cases as well to enhance students' ability in understanding and application of what they learned for diagnosis, treatments and prevention.

整合課程結束時,將透過紙筆測驗考試來驗收學生於課堂所獲得的知識;實驗課程方面,將以紙筆測驗學生實作方面的概念。而PBL與case study 則以自我評量、同儕評量、及PBL導師之評量作為PBL與case study教學方式之客觀評估。其總成績評估如下:
總成績 = 筆試(平均成績) x (80%) + Case study x (5%)+ PBL x 5%+ 平時成績 x 10%
